PreSonus Studio 24c

Best for: Podcasters and producers who want PreSonus preamp quality, MIDI, and a future-proof USB-C connection in one compact unit
Check price on AmazonThe Studio 24c is a 2-in/2-out USB-C interface with two XMAX-L solid-state mic preamps, 24-bit/192 kHz converters, MIDI I/O, and a 115 dB dynamic range. It is bus-powered over USB-C and bundles Studio One Artist with the Studio Magic plugin suite. A genuine step up from the AudioBox USB 96 in both conversion quality and connectivity.

Our take
The Studio 24c is the answer to everyone who asked PreSonus to put a USB-C port on the AudioBox. The XMAX-L preamps are quieter and more transparent than the older design, 192 kHz conversion is now standard, and the 115 dB dynamic range is among the best at this price tier. MIDI I/O is included, which many USB-C competitors omit. The main caveat is the same as any two-input interface: two mics, period. But as a two-person podcast interface with a good software bundle, this competes directly with the Scarlett 2i2 and deserves more attention than it gets.
Pros
- USB-C native - works with modern laptops without adapters
- XMAX-L preamps are clean and transparent
- MIDI I/O included
- Strong software bundle for the price
Cons
- Two inputs only - same limit as AudioBox
- Plastic chassis is less durable than the AudioBox steel body
- Less brand recognition than Focusrite at the same price
